The purpose of our trip was to experience the enchanting town in the mountains that we had heard so much about, taking in the culture, breathtaking scenery, and indulging in local culinary delights.

Our adventure began with the famous "train to Ella," which is renowned as one of the most beautiful train rides in the world. Hanging outside the open door, we were mesmerized by the stunning landscapes that unfolded before our eyes. This experience alone was worth the trip.

In Ella, we stayed at two homestays, each offering incredible mountain views and glimpses of the train passing by. The peaceful surroundings were perfect for enjoying a morning coffee and unwinding after a day of exploration.

We attended cooking classes where we learned to prepare mouthwatering Sri Lankan curries. As self-proclaimed meat lovers, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the rich flavors of the vegetarian dishes we prepared were so satisfying that we found ourselves opting for meat-free meals throughout our stay.

Our time in Ella would not have been complete without some hiking. The most rewarding hike we undertook was to Ella Rock. The panoramic vistas from the summit were awe-inspiring, and an unexpected encounter with a mother and son selling coconuts and lime juice along the trail provided a welcome respite during our ascent.

Ella, Sri Lanka, left an indelible mark on our hearts. From the thrilling train ride to the delicious vegetarian curries and serene homestays, every moment was one to cherish. If you ever find yourself contemplating a visit to this magical destination, take the leap. The memories you create will last a lifetime.
