The following morning, we were up early for our transfer to the Naples train station & some extra padded time to attempt to acquire the last missing bag. Unfortunately, the bag was not recovered*, but that was fixed by a rapid-fire shopping session in Rome. (Tip: Put an AirTag in your bag. We all have since purchased one for our bags.) While Austin shopped, Shari & Kelsey visited the Louis Vuitton store. We spent the day generally wandering & eating more delicious food. Of note, we revisited our favorite wine bar from our honeymoon trip last year. This became a nightly habit as it happened to be right around the corner from our Airbnb.

The biggest adventure for us in Rome was to visit the Vatican; we didn't end up fitting this in on our last trip. Kelsey was surprised to see so many Egyptian artifacts in the museum & also enjoyed learning about the fig leaf modifications during the tour. It was also a well-timed reprieve from a sudden thunderstorm. After our museum trip ended, it was much longer than expected, we crew recuperated by grabbing a glass of wine before continuing to a river boat for dinner & some live music.

Rome remains one of our favorite cities; you can't beat the focaccia sandwiches, coffee shops, pasta, wine, and historical sites.

*For those curious about the 3rd bag, it was found in lost luggage in Frankfurt. The bag tag had fallen off the bag while in transit, but luckily Austin had a long layover + went back through Frankfurt on the way home. Buy an AirTag for real, kids.
