As much as we love Southeast Asia, we had started to get burned out on similar experiences & were definitely in need of a break from the heat. Even Kelsey had to admit beach days had lost their luster (temporarily). We originally had our eyes on Budapest, but with temperamental spring weather, we ultimately landed on Rome as an easy base point until we figured out how to spend our remaining 2ish weeks.

Within a few hours of deciding on Rome, our friend Kevin had a flight booked from the US and would be tagging along with us for the next week...wherever that led us. Being our third time in Rome in 18 months, we wandered more of the local neighborhoods instead of seeking all the sights. It was a perfectly warm spring day, but eventually, the jet lag caught up & Kelsey took a four-hour nap. Kyle went on a great run. We ate pasta & pizza and hit up what can now officially be called our favorite wine bar. We've been there on our honeymoon, we hit it up a few times with Kyle's family back in September, and we were lucky enough to grab a table and enjoy more than a few glasses while we waited for our night train.
