Lake Atitlan held true to its moniker of the closest thing to Eden on Earth. We split our time between 3 towns around the lake: Panajachel, Santa Cruz, and Tzunana. We discovered our love for Pupusas and ate at a couple of different pupuserias in Panajachel. We drank plenty of Brooklyn Brewery beers (oddly popular here), hot chocolates, horchata, and amazing coffee. We did a bar crawl with our hostel, Dreamboat. Our favorite bar didn't have a set menu. We just told them the flavors we like & they made us custom drinks! They were so tasty & only a few bucks.

After Pana, we moved to Santa Cruz. Our hostel had communal dinners every night where we met lots of interesting folks & learned a couple of new card games. Our time in Santa Cruz was spent mostly reading in the hammocks & enjoying the unlimited coffee. We went on a 'mountain biking' tour one day - where mountain equates to the actual roads connecting each of these towns...i.e. why most transport is via boat. The mountain biking was in a torrential downpour, the most rain we've experienced the entire time in Guatemala. It was cool to see the different towns & get a feel for the remainder of the lake where we weren't staying.

To round out our time in Atitlan, we moved to an Airbnb in the extremely quiet town of Tzunana. It was one of the coolest Airbnbs we've stayed at; right on the lake with a perfect view. We took this time to really chill out & spent most of the days reading, cooking, and making cocktails together.
