It was quite the trek to get to Valbona; we had a bus to Tirana with border crossings, terminal change to catch another bus to Shkoder, and an overnight stay in Shkoder before beginning the actual trip to Valbona. The trek to Valbona was part of the lure for the trip & we quite enjoyed it. We had an early morning shuttle (read 7 am departure); fortunately, the hostel had a pot of coffee brewing. We stored our main bags at this hostel & only took with us each a 'daypack' for the next four days. After the shuttle, we took a ferry through Koman Lake for a couple of hours. It was very full, but we snagged a couple of seats with our legs dangling off the back of the boat. We were fortunate for the sunny, cool weather. After the ferry, we grabbed another shuttle which dropped us off at our guest house. Well, kind of. From the drop-off point, our guest house was a 20-minute hike up an uneven path. Once we arrived, a massive lunch & Turkish coffee greeted us. We enjoyed the rest of the afternoon reading in the sunshine & watched the sun set behind the mountains.
